On February 13, 1993, I told Craig I needed to go to the store to get some cat litter.
Instead, I stopped by Special Pals Rescue (Houston) and adopted a young dog named "Daisey."
Apparently someone decided to tie "Daisey" to a tree, in a park, and leave her there....for four days.
We knew we wanted a dog and had stopped by Special Pals several times. On one of our visits we saw "Daisey," and fell in love with her beauty and energy. We hesitated to get her and left the kennel. We went back a day or so later and she was still there. By this time I knew we had to have her.
So, after not much thought....I told Craig a fib and adopted our first "child." We promptly named her Dakota and she became the love of our lives.
She was a loving, happy, protective, beautiful dog. Her happiest moments were being with her dad, Craig; snuggling with Toby, running around the garage, playing with her ball, rolling in the grass or simply being around people like Chris, Brian, Eddie and Grandma.
For over 13 years she brought us incredible happiness, comfort, joy and peace. We will forever miss her hugs and kisses, her silliness, her beauty and the wagging of her tail. Most of all we will miss her unconditional love.
